Vulnerability description The specialists of the Positive Research center have detected a Directory Traversal vulnerability in SAP NetWeaver. The vulnerability was found in the "Log Viewer" component. The attacker can upload malformed archive that contains files with special characters in their names. When the Web Application unpack the archive it resolves symbols "." and "/" as part of correct file path, so the Path Traversal attack can be revealed and attacker's file will be uploaded into the arbitrary place in server's file system. Uploaded files represent a significant risk to applications. The consequences of unrestricted file upload can vary, including complete system takeover, an overloaded file system or database, forwarding attacks to back-end systems, and simple defacement.
